Historic Win at Lords

We talk of a breathtaking fast-bowling display. We talk of bowlers intimidating batsmen. We talk of bowlers rattling a team up. We talk of bowlers at their best in Test cricket. We talk of champions coming up with their best when cornered. Each of the above fitted perfectly into a 'bloke' called Ishant Sharma who sucked life out of England in their own backyard to deliver a historic Indian win at Lord's on Monday. Yes, it was largely set up by India's effort on the previous four days of the Test, but that takes nothing away from a bowler who takes five wickets (seven in all) in eight overs of bone-chilling Test-match fast bowling. ALSO SEE Ishant finished with career-best figures of 7 for 74 The 'taunted' leader of Indian attack in England was 'applauded' by every Lord's attendee on Monday, who witnessed what will be part of fast-bowling folklore. Breathtaking Ishant takes life out of England for India's historic triumph A career-best 7-wicket

Tata's New Hatch Back - Kite

Tata Motors is in the mood to leave no stones unturned to reclaim its lost position in the market. To achieve this, the home-grown automaker is all set to bring in a new breed of cars in some of the most profitable segments. Along with launching two new cars - the Zest compact sedan and the Bolt hatchback, Tata Motors has plans to enter the entry-level hatchback segment too that is led by Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai for now. If reports are to be believed, Tata Motors is currently working on a new entry-level hatchback, which will take on the likes of Maruti Celerio, Hyundai i10, Datsun Go and others in the segment. The development of the car has already begun, and it has been codemaned as the Kite. To take a competitive edge, Tata might launch the entry level hatchback in both, petrol and diesel versions as none of its competitors currently have a diesel engine. What engine options Tata will use is still unclear, but Tata has the option to utilise the 1.2-litre 64bhp petrol and

BUK missile - Main weapon of Indian navy

The missile that downed Malaysian Airlines' Flight MH 17 over Ukraine is also the Indian Navy's principal protective missile, defending its warships including the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, far out at sea. The Buk missile's naval variant the "Shtil", dubbed the SA-17 "Grizzly" by NATO, was inducted on board the three Russian-built Talwar class frigates beginning in 2003 and their follow-on class, the three Teg class frigates, beginning 2012. An earlier verison of the Shtil, dubbed the "Kashmir" (NATO SA-11 "Gadfly") by NATO, was first installed onboard the three Delhi class destroyers beginning in 1997. These warships form the protective screens in carrier battle groups centering around the Vikramaditya and the Viraat. The Shtil represented a quantum jump for the Indian Navy which had relied on the older RZ-61 "Pechora" second-generation missiles onboard the five Russian-built Rajput class destroyers. The Pecho

New Manchester United Manager- Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal began his first official day as Manchester United manager on Wednesday by being briefed by his staff, Albert Stuivenberg, Marcel Bout and Ryan Giggs, regarding which players had impressed during his absence, before the Dutchman took his first session at 5.30pm. Van Gaal introduced himself to the players individually during lunch but it is understood he is waiting for the return of many of those who are on a post-World Cup break, including Wayne Rooney, before he addresses the squad as a whole. Stuivenberg, the assistant coach, and Bout, the chief opposition scout, had led the debrief regarding the squad, with Van Gaal’s countrymen having emerged as the more prominent figures when leading training. Van Gaal landed at Manchester airport at 11.50am before being taken in a club car to Carrington. He was shown around a “buzzing” complex, including the manager’s office previously occupied by David Moyes and Sir Alex Ferguson. Van Gaal was unable to meet all of the club s

Arsenal Sign New Full back from Newcastle

Arsenal have signed defender Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee, widely believed to be £12million. Debuchy helped France reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup earlier this month and becomes Arsenal’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. The 28-year-old will present a ready-made replacement for right-back Bacary Sagna, who earlier this summer left Arsenal to join Manchester City on a free transfer. "I'm very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours, it's one of the biggest clubs in the whole world,” Debuchy told Arsenal’s website. "I'm looking forward to working with Arsene Wenger and to helping the team build on last season's FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies. "I know that Arsenal can win titles every year. Winning

Bangalore Days Malayalam movie Review

Bangalore Days, written and directed by Anjali Menon, stars many young stars of Malayalam cinema. But, surprisingly, the story is not a romantic one in the conventional sense. It's about three cousins in their twenties, who dream of taking off for Bangalore and having a blast when they grow up. Krishnan aka Kuttan (Nivin Pauly), Arjun aka Aju (Dulquer Salmaan) and Divya (Nazriya Nazim) realise their childhood dream in an unusual manner. Divya gets married to Das (Fahadh Faasil) in a haste (because her astrological chart says that if she is not married by a certain time, she will elope with someone who is not of her religion) and settles in Bangalore. Kuttan gets a job there in a top IT company. Aju is already there as a mechanic fixing racing bikes and imported cars. Aju is a rebel without a cause, product of a broken home. He ran away from boarding school just before his final tenth standard exams. Kuttan is a simple soul who would have happily looked after his fa

MH 17 Crash - Blown out of air by Ukraine Rebels

World leaders demanded an international investigation into the shooting down of a Malaysian airliner with 298 people on board over eastern Ukraine in a tragedy that could mark a pivotal moment in the worst crisis between Russia and the West since the Cold War. One US official said Washington strongly suspected the Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 was downed by a sophisticated surface-to-air missile fired by Ukrainian separatists backed by Moscow. There were no survivors from Thursday's crash, which left wreckage and bodies scattered across miles of rebel-held territory near Ukraine's border with Russia. World leaders call for probe into downed MH17 jet that left 298 dead Voice, data recorders and two black boxes of the plane were recovered but as the crash site was in rebel hands it's unclear who would analyse them. The scale of the disaster could prove a turning point for international pressure to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, which has killed hundreds since protests top

Sunil Narine bowls the first maiden Super Over of Twenty20 cricket

West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has created history by becoming the first bowler in the history of T20 cricket to bowl a maiden over - a feat he achieved in the Caribbean Premier League on Thursday. The game between Red Steel and Guyana Amazon Warriors culminated in tied scores at the end of the stipulated 20 overs each - with both the sides ending up with 118 forcing the Super Over decider. Guyana batted first in the Super Over making 12 runs, followed by the magical six balls by Narine, which weren't scored off and resulted in a record maiden.

Germany 1-0 Argentina World Cup final 2014

For one last moment, Lionel Messi’s face loomed on the stadium screens as he stood over a free-kick that was, by anyone’s estimations, too far out and too wide of goal to consider shooting. But then this was the best player in the world, a goal down in the World Cup final with two minutes remaining and history slipping through his fingers. He skied it and so went the chance of what will probably be his lifetime. Messi, named player of the tournament, will probably never have that gold trophy to set on the table alongside Diego Maradona’s from 1986. He will have to make his peace with that. As for the rest of his team, this was a marvellous Argentina performance but they were up against the most impressive group of international footballers of this generation. Germany have taken the place of Spain as the pre-eminent world team and the fourth World Cup of their history, although the first for a unified Germany, is richly deserved. They have worked towards this with ingenuity and pati

Arsenal sign Barcelona striker Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal signalled their attacking intent for the looming Premier League season by completing the signing of Chile striker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona on Thursday. No fee was disclosed but Arsenal are believed to have paid in the region of 35 million pounds ($59.56 million) for the 25-year-old Chile international who joined Barcelona from Udinese in 2011 and went on to score 47 goals in 141 games. "As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said on the club's website. EPL: Arsenal sign Barcelona striker Alexis Sanchez "Alexis will add power, creativity and quality to our squad and we are looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks." The clubs had already reached a deal in principle but were ironing out personal terms for the player who was deemed surplus to requirements at Barca by new manager Luis Enrique despite his heal
