Big corporate defaulters feel the heat from Supreme Court order

This is good news from the Supreme Court of India. Worried over government ‘inaction’ in connection with the recovery of bad debt amounting to lakhs of crores, the SC has ordered the Reserve Bank of India to share the list of big corporate defaulters who owe more than Rs.500 crore. According to experts it can force the government to hunt down defaulters who have actually swindled public money in the name of corporate loans. The SC decision has already sent shock waves across business circles. The defaulters who were brazen enough to roam freely, unconcerned about their huge liability, are now shivering with fear. Dinesh Unnikrishnan in an article in “Firstpost” writes “It is fully within the rights of general taxpayers to ask questions on how the tax collected from them is spent." Given that banks are going broke with ballooning bad loans and that majority of them (to be specific 70 per cent of the industry by assets) are government banks, which are capitalised every year by t

JNU CRACK DOWN

The students protest in JNU, anti-India sloganeering and subsequent arrest of the JNUSU president and police crackdown in the campus have once again revived the debate on nationalism. I don't know the Truth of what have happened in the JNU . I don't believe that JNUSU President have organized and was leading the anti national statement as shown in the Videos speculated in the media . But if it is true then it is wrong . However there is no right on the govt of India to take it as anti national issue . I Think it should be treated as issue in the campus . I have seen several forum discussing the need for capital punishment & i think it could be same reason they also would have discussed . if at all something happened it was for the JNU to take action as disciplinary issue and not the Delhi police . Recently Delhi police behaviour is also found to be suspicious since they work as goons for Ruling central Govt. BJP as a political party have no right to take this issue

How Indian airline staff makes the life of a flyer miserable ?

In januray 2013 I too have faced the same issue with indigo Airline while travelling from bhubaneswar to Trivandrum . But thankfully because of the intervention of the keralite Supervisor in Indigo at the last minute I was able to board the flight to Chennai from Hyderabad. However in my case both my flight where of same company (Indigo) & while i booked my flight i ensured that i have good 3 hours gaps between the two flights . Airline Behaviour in India need to be changed & DGCA need to act seriously on this regards. The Below Blog is the Personal experience of Mr Sambit Dash Couple of weeks back, an unpleasant personal encounter with Go Air brought to the fore the poor passenger policy that many airline operators in India have. For a service-sector like airlines, this does not bode well. Despite few attempts by DGCA, the ordinary passenger finds himself at the mercy of the airline, and there is very little the aggrieved can do. A passenger-friendly policy, while

ONV Kurup Passed away

ONV Kurup, the celebrated Malayalam poet and lyricist who passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday at the age of 84, was an influential presence in Kerala’s cultural landscape for nearly seven decades. A much-loved and respected teacher of Malayalam literature, he taught two generations of college students in Kerala. As a poet and public figure, he was associated with the political and cultural Left all through his life — he also contested unsuccessfully as the Left Front candidate from the Thiruvananthapuram  Lok Sabha  constituency in 1989. For decades, he was a dignified presence at cultural evenings in Thiruvananthapuram, the city where he lived, lending his voice to progressive social causes. He received numerous awards for his poetry, including the Sahitya Akademi prize and the Jnanpith, and a dozen Kerala state film awards for lyrics. Critics have been indifferent to his poetry in recent years, but he remained one of the most popular poets in the language. The poems and f
