FlyDubai flight Crashed in Russia

Russian authorities have confirmed that all the passengers and crew members on board the FlyDubai flight, which crashed while landing in Russia, were killed. There were 55 passengers and six crew on board the plane. Russia's emergencies ministry said the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 operated by Dubai-based budget carrier FlyDubai, crashed at 03:50 (0030 GMT) at the airport in Rostov-on-Don "Unfortunately, they all died," Viktor Yanutsenko, an emergencies ministry official helping coordinate the emergency response, was quoted as saying by Russia's RIA news agency. Zhanna Terekohova, an advisor to the Russian transport minister, told state television possible causes of the crash included pilot error and poor weather conditions. Local officials said at the time of the crash, there was strong, gusting winds in the Rostov area. The National Highways Authority of India has laid the groundwork to roll out India's first personal rapid transit (PRT) network and will invite global bids for the project within the next fortnight. The pilot project will span a 13 km stretch from the Gurgaon-Delhi border to Badshapur Mod on Sohna Road and is estimated to cost Rs 850 crore. A project called the Metrino, a PRT system in which pods are suspended from an overhead rail - has been under consideration for a while. Every pod can take up to five passengers. For the pilot project route, 16 stations have been planned, starting near Ambience Mall. A personal rapid transit (PRT) network is made up of small automated vehicles running at close intervals on a guide-way with docking stations for passengers to get on and off. Dubai Metro Route 2020 work to begin shortly

Work on Route 2020, the 14.5km-long extension of Dubai Metro’s Red Line will begin in the next few months, a top Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official revealed at the Middle East Rail Conference on Tuesday. Speaking at the morning session of the conference, Abdul Mohsin Ebrahim Younus, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, said that RTA is currently evaluating the tenders from five participating firms and the contract to design and build the extension will be awarded shortly. “Work on Route 2020 will begin immediately after the tender is awarded, which will be within the next few months. The extension will be ready before Expo 2020,” said Younus. The route will branch out from Nakheel Harbour and Tower station and end at the Expo 2020 site near Al Maktoum International Airport, and 10.5km of the route will be elevated while 4km will be underground, supported by five elevated stations and two underground stations. The Assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam and Union Territory of Puducherry will be held between April 4, 2016 and May 16, 2016, spread over 43 days. It will be a single-day polling in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry on May 16, while it will be in six phases in West Bengal and two in Assam. Counting of votes in all the States will be held on May 19, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi announced on Friday. The elections will also see for the first time a symbol, which has been created by the National School of Design, allotted to NOTA (None of the above) that will be placed at the bottom of the list of candidates. Kalabhavan Mani Passed Away

Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani was cremated on Sunday evening at his hometown Chalakkudi in Kerala's Thrissur district. He received full state honours, as teary-eyed emotional fans, family and friends from the film fraternity paid their last respects. The autopsy report of Kalabhavan Mani, who died on Sunday after admission to a private hospital in Kochi, establishes that his liver was severely damaged. The authorities are still awaiting forensic test results, to check the traces of methanol in his organs. It is only after this is released that the exact cause of death can be established. Mani was admitted to a hospital in Kochi after vomiting blood, which had raised suspicion. A police team, including forensic experts, was sent to the actor’s outhouse in Chalakudy where he was found unconscious before he was rushed to the hospital.
