Govt castles Pinarayi; UDF calls for hartal

Kochi: The cabinet has decided not to prosecute CPM state secretary and former power minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the infamous Lavalin case.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan voiced his disagreement on the the decision. Cabinet took the decision based on the legal advice given by Advocate General Sudhakar Prasad.

Pinarayi Vijayan is the ninth accused in the case 

The UDF Wednesday called for a dawn to dusk hartal on Thursday in protest against the cabinet decision not to allow the prosecution of Pinarayi Vijayan in the Lavain case.

UDF convenor P.P.Thankachan said this hartal was imposed on people because of the government decision not to prosecute Pinarayi Vijayan.
