concern over the lack of facilities for testing and doing research on viruses will no longer be a problem as the phase-I of the institute of advanced virology (IAV) will be inaugurated by the chief minister on Saturday. The institute – which has come up at Bio 360 Life Science Park at Thonnakkal in the capital – is affiliated to GVN The Thonnakkal institute will be connected to all these centres and the vast network of virologists aid faster detection and prevention of virus-borne diseases such as Nipah, said GVN senior adviser Dr M V Pillai. Initially, the institute will be linked to a European centre (one in Karolinska Institute) and an Asian Centre (one in Japan) as an affiliate until IAV becomes a full-fledged centre. “These two institutes will train and guide the faculty and physicians. Raddison blue stay and chennai trip

Recently we had a family trip to Chennai. The trip started with a shock early morning call from the indigo call centre that our flight to Chennai is cancelled due to the operational issue in the early morning at 4.45 am. At 5.00 I rebooked for a new indigo flight one hour later. We reached as per the initial plan to Cochin international airport. After completing the security check spend almost 2hrs in cochin domestic terminal before we boarded an aircraft. After boarding the flight we waited for almost an hour for the flight to take off. Finally, the fight started to roll and after 60 minutes we landed in Chennai. Thankfully we got our luggage immediately and we came out of the airport very soon. Booked an Uber taxi to raddison blue city centre hotel. After 35 minutes ride, we reached the hotel. Check in to the hotel was smooth and the staff took care. We were given a good room with a scenic view of Chennai city.we relaxed for the next 2 hrs before heading out for a dinner in zaitoo

The poster is of three men rowing a boat on a moonlit night, towards somewhere. The image I bring back home from  Kumbalangi Nights  is of that ‘somewhere’ they row towards. A house on the shore that one of the men describes as a place in which those, whom no one wants, end up. A house and a neighbourhood in Kochi that at the end of the movie you feel so close to, for that’s how easily Syam Pushkaran’s story snatches your heart away, helped by some really powerful performances by the likes of Soubin Shahir, Fahadh Faasil and Shane Nigam. One of the later occupants of the house calls this house beautiful. And the youngest of the four men of that house – Franky by name – asks in surprise, “Really?”. He had once told his eldest brother – Saji played by Soubin Shahir – that it is the worst house in the panchayat, made so bad by his two brothers who are always at each other’s throats. Saji and Bobby (Shane Nigam) can’t even make peace on their late father’s remembrance day. Bonny (Sreenat
