2014- A Flash back

Yet another year is about to leave. What 2014 have done to us particular to me. I am not going to call it as great year or fabulous year like all do always when we write such a self-introspection at the end of the year. It is not because it is not a good year or fabulous year. 2014 have being successful enough to be remembered & thank god for all that he has given. Travelled thousands of kilometers. Relocated to Dubai. Made new friends. Learned a totally new life style which will be an experience of life. Learned how to be diplomatic & at the same time cunning to survive in this stuff world particularly in UAE. Year started with a set back to my personal goal but later it gave way to a success to a new mode of life. Relocation to Dubai, Three months in Airport site, 18th gulf youth conference, into 30th year since my birth , another small thing in my life for first time which I don’t want to relieve will be remain as the things to be remembered for 2014 in my personal li

"Why is it easier to find an iPhone (than) to find a plane?

You don't have to be an expert to ask yourself the question -- how in the world, with today's technology, can a commercial airplane go missing? It's a question, but also an expression of disbelief. What to know about air turbulence Those who get lost driving can use GPS. If you lose your iPhone, there's an app to track it down. Scientists successfully plotted the course for a spacecraft that landed on a speeding comet. How did weather affect AirAsia flight? But something goes wrong aboard a 123-foot, 67-ton passenger jet and rescuers must resort to scouring the ocean? "Why is it easier to find an iPhone (than) to find a plane?" one Twitter user, Catalina Buitano, asked. There are dozens of similar questions on social media. They hint at the same sentiment: in a world where people's locations are tracked for everything from map apps to what ads appear on a web browser, why does Big Brother's gaze avoid the skies? "Why, in this day and age, do

AirAsia Indonesia flight QZ8501 to Singapore missing

An AirAsia Indonesia airliner flying from Indonesia to Singapore with 162 people on board has gone missing. Flight QZ8501 lost contact with air traffic control at 06:24 local time (23:24 GMT Saturday) over the Java Sea. The plane, an Airbus A320-200, disappeared midway into the flight of more than two hours from the city of Surabaya. No distress call was made. Bad weather was reported in the area, and an air search operation has now been suspended for the night. Planes from Indonesia and Singapore had been scouring an area of sea between Kalimantan (Borneo) and Java. Some boats were reported to be continuing to search as night fell. No wreckage has been found, an Indonesian official told the BBC. AirAsia's Chief Executive Tony Fernandes, who has flown to Surabaya, said: "We don't want to speculate but right now of course the plane has been missing for 12 hours and there's a deep sense of depression here. "This is a massive shock to us and we are devas

When a idea to Generate positive PR went Lay wire after IITian accept the 6 crore offer

In a stunning development, India’s IT services giant, Infosys, has surpassed the likes of Facebook by making a mammoth Rs 6 crore annual pay package offer to an IIT-Kharagpur Computer Science student, Rakesh Kapur, during campus recruitment. However, the idea was apparently a marketing gimmick gone wrong – the Infy HR team was confident that all IITians would reject the offer anyway but the news would make headlines on both the mainstream and the social media, thereby generating positive PR for the beleaguered IT services giant. But in a cruel twist, IITian Rakesh Kapur, who was spell-bound by the package, gleefully accepted the offer and even agreed to go through the initial months of prison-styled training thereby dashing the plan hatched by the company’s HR division. Now, the company is in utter shock. For one, it has blown its entire recruitment budget for the year on acquiring just one student. While he is undoubtedly talented and smart, can he do the equivalent of 100 fresher

Tag Heuer plans to launch a smartwatch; to take on Apple Watch

Tag Heuer is pushing ahead with plans for a smartwatch to more directly compete with the likes of the Apple Watch and may make acquisitions to help drive the strategy, its head said on Tuesday. Swiss watch makers like Tag Heuer, the biggest brand in luxury goods group LVMH's watch portfolio, had until recently largely dismissed the threat of "smart" gadgets, but LVMH watch chief Jean-Claude Biver says he had changed his mind on the subject. Biver, who had already outlined plans for a smartwatch, said he had struck several partnerships and was mulling purchases to help come up with an original upmarket offering. Switzerland's watch industry is facing competition from these wearable gadgets that allow users to check email or make phone calls. Swatch Group, the world's biggest watchmaker, said in August it planned a launch next summer. "We started on the project about four months ago. We have done several partnerships and might also do acquisitions," Bi

The new Delhi-based airline plans to connect Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Jammu and Patna in the first year of its operations. "I am delighted that we have successfully cleared the final requirement and secured the AOP (Air Operator's Permit). We are thankful to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for their support and guidance during the entire process," Vistara chief executive Phee Teik Yeoh said. What went wrong with SPICE JET Airlines ?

A golden rule of business is to never to let your firm’s troubles reach the customer. But it was one that SpiceJet broke repeatedly, starting from the fag end of October when things began unravelling at the Chennai-based airline. Flights were delayed and rescheduled at short notice, leaving disgruntled flyers. In fact, at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on October 30, passengers trying to board the early-morning Chennai flight found no staff at the SpiceJet counters. They had gone on a flash strike for non-payment of dues. It was only hours later that an airline official came to inform irate passengers that their flight would take off in the afternoon. By December, when the airline announced that it was cancelling over 1,800 domestic flights — on average around 80 a day — during the month, SpiceJet was all but tottering. But why did an airline once considered the best alternative to Delhi-based IndiGo and voted the top low-cost carrier in 2012 by the Travel Ag

GSAT-16 launched successfully

After its launch was deferred twice due to bad weather, India's latest communication satellite GSAT-16 was placed in orbit by Ariane 5 rocket in the early hours on Sunday from the space port of Kourou in French Guiana. The European launcher blasted off at 2:10 AM (IST) and hurled the GSAT-16, designed to augment the national space capacity to boost communication services, into space in a flawless flight. GSAT-16 was launched into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). Indian satellite's co-passenger DIRECTV-14, built by SSL (Space Systems/Loral) for operator DIRECTV to provide direct-to-home television broadcasts across the US, was also launched by Ariane 5 VA221, marking 63rd successful mission in a row for the rocket. "Ariane 5 delivers DIRECTV-14 and GSAT-16 to orbit on Arianespace's latest mission success", Arianespace said on its website. With a lift-off mass of 3,181 kg, GSAT-16 carries a total of 48 communication transponders, the largest by a communi

Google's new Device assist

A new Google app, Device Assist, has been launched to detect problems with smartphones and help people use phone features properly. The app is designed to help first-time users get the best out of their phones and fix issues that it detects, for instance, with the battery, connectivity and GPS. Tips "to explore new features and improve the performance of your device" are also on offer, says the app description on Google Play Store. For users of the Nexus, Google's flagship phone and Google Play edition devices, there is also an option of live Google support. The app is currently available to US-based Nexus, Google Play edition and Android One devices running Android 5.0, Lollipop. "Great for people who aren't quite so tech savvy! I'm suggesting this to all my family who constantly ask me to help them with their devices," a user said. There are explanations of features that first-time Android users might not know about, like "screen brightness s

Roger Federer in India to play in IPTL

Indian tennis fans were eagerly waiting to watch their favourite star play in India from the day Roger Federer announced that he will be coming to the country to participate in the inaugural edition of the International Premier Tennis League. The long wait ended finally on Sunday as the 17-time Grand Slam champion played his first tennis match on the Indian soil on Day 2 of the Indian leg of the IPTL at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here. The fans made a loud cheer of "Roger! Roger!" to welcome the champion as he entered the arena for warmup before the start of the match. And he didn't disappoint them. Federer looked in his vintage form as he won all three sets in the Men's Singles, Men's Doubles and the Mixed Doubles. He made a brilliant start with Sania Mirza as they thrashed the pair of Daniela Hantuchova and Bruno Soares 6-0 in the second set of the first match. Federer showed that playing in this new format is not as playing any exhibition match. He loo

World's fastest camera can capture up to 100 billion frames per second

In a breakthrough, researchers have developed the world's fastest 2D camera that can capture events up to 100 billion frames per second. The camera is faster than any current receive-only ultrafast imaging techniques, which are limited by on-chip storage and electronic readout speed to operations of about 10 million frames per second, researchers said. Researchers at the Washington University used a technique called compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) to make movies of the images they took with single laser shots of four physical phenomena: laser pulse reflection, refraction, faster-than light propagation of what is called non-information, and photon racing in two media. For the first time, humans can see light pulses on the fly," Lihong Wang, Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, said. "Because this technique advances the imaging frame rate by orders of magnitude, we now enter a new regime to open up new visions," said Wang. This camera is a se

Apple Patents iPhone Fall Protection System That Rotates It in Mid-Air

A future iteration of the iPhone may might just rotate in mid-air when falling to save itself from damage. Apple has been granted a patent for a futuristic iPhone protection system that recognises when a phone is dropped. The device then calculates the point of impact and shifts the phone's centre of gravity to save sensitive components, Appleinsider reported. Developed by Nicholas V. King and Fletcher Rothkopf, the system will rely on sensors to monitor physical device activity and positioning. The latest iPhone and iPad models already come fitted with accelerometers, gyroscopes and GPS which will also be used to full effect. The date from these sensors will go to a central processing unit while the phone is in free fall. A motor will then apply a force inside the phone and cause it to land on a preferred site, such as its side or back. Other components in the device are miniature gas canisters and sliding weights that move internally to save the phone from damage, the re
