Kejriwal’s emotional pitch, calmness force opposition to remain silent

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal won the trust vote in Delhi Assembly in style. He delivered a very short speech seeking the support of 'others'. He made sure that his emotional pitch works. The Chief Minister refrained from using big words, his speech was very simple. But, it was quiet powerful. Kejriwal did not attack the Congress and BJP. He told the Congress and BJP that the AAP was not seeking vote for its government or party. He said, "We are not seeking vote for us. We are seeking the vote for the common people." The opposition made serious allegations against the AAP and Kejriwal during the debate. However, Kejriwal did not go into the specifics. He did not even bother to launch a counter attack. In a very clever move he moved from being a preachy and sanctimonious person to a statesman, whose main concern is the welfare of the society. He kept his speech very short and direct. Kejriwals emotional pitch, calmness force opposition to remain silent Kejriwal told the Congress and BJP that the AAP was not seeking vote for its government or party. He said, "We are seeking the vote for the common people." There was no hyperbole. There was no personal attack. He restricted his entire speech to focus on the needs of common people. He spoke about quality, affordable education, clean drinking water, a roof over head for poor people, electricity at affordable price etc. Chief Minister Kejriwal was different from activist Kejriwal. He knows the difference between a public platform and assembly hall. He was much calmer and accommodating. His tone and tenor forced the opposition to listen to him in rapt attention. His emotional pitch made the opposition speechless. Kejriwal once again proved that he is one of the cleverest political leaders of our times. He promised to end Delhi's VIP culture. He promised to end rampant corruption in the government. Emphasising that his party is an inclusive party and it treats all resident equal he said, "For us aam aadmi is not just the poor people. For us all are aam aadmis." He said that most of the traders in India want to do business in an honest manner and in a very transparent way. He vowed to end 'inspector raj' in Delhi. Kejriwal has passed his first major hurdle. According to him, even if the AAP loses Speaker's post, it is not going to be a loss for the AAP. By making this statement, Kejriwal has once again forced the Congress to back AAP's Speaker candidate in the election slated for Friday.
