Training in CMM

Today I have undergone a training in Ruby CNC 564 a Coordinate measuring Machine (CMM). The machine can measure a work piece of maximum size X axis = 500mm ,Y axis= 600mm ,Z axis= 400mm . The Resolution of the machine is 0.0001 microns . The Entire machine run on pneumatic Principle with use of servo motor . Braking action during incremental movement in each axis is provided by the air pad provided on each axis . Min Air Pressure required to operate the machine is 5.5 bar . Movement of the axis is achieve by using a joystick. Bed movement give the y axis , the Horizontal movement on the Pillar give the x axis and the downward movement of the pillar gives the Z axis movements. The machine Requires a Moisture and dust free atmosphere. The air supplied to the machine also need to be moisture free. Regular maintenance and cleaning is needed for proper working of the machine . The machine is link to a computer which operates a software called ARBERLINK. Once machine is switched on and air is on the software can be Operated . First step is Homing . That means setting the Reference point . Then we need to calibrate the stylus probe which we are going to use for measuring purpose by using a master sphere . Once the calibration and neccessary intial set up is done . we can go for direct measurement of any component by teaching the machine location where u r going to set up the product on the granite surface of the machine . Then first select the a plane of the component and also the reference axis for the component . once this is done all neccessary measurement like hole , contour etc can be measured in single go . Based on the reference plane & axis the software will give the dimension of various shape on the work piece .
