Post 19 - Modern Mass transport System -Metro & Monorail

The Modern Mass Transport System Metro & Mono Rail is Hit in India . The Metro was first implemented in Kolkata in india . However the Modern Format of Air conditioned & well maintained System with world class facility was implemented in Delhi which is keeps growing on day today basis . Now Metro Project are under construction in Mumbai , Jaipur , bangalore , Chennai ,Hyderabad & Kochi . While Cities like Lucknow , Bhopal etc are planning for Metro System . The Concept of Rail on Viaduct constructed over the median on the Road or the underground Format is employed in India . Each City Metro System have its own unique difference . bangalore Metro does not have over head cable & Gauge length is Different . Jaipur Metro is is a Double Decker System with a Fly over in the Middle and a Metro running above . Most of these projects are funded by external agency . Some cities the System is Good and economical Viable . But is it as Viable as the Indian Railway system on a longer run. What will happen if a Disaster simliar to Earthquake in the Gujarat year ago happen . Will they overcome such natural disaseter .All these projects are running on cores of borrowed money and also keep on borrowing more money for Expansion to more area . Some Cities The Phase 1 projects are not in the traffic hub area . Will the traffic itself will be able to payback the entire cost of Construction in stipulated period . The PPP Model tried in the Airport Reach in Delhi Metro Failed because of lack of customer as excepted and followed by the construction failure .
Another Mass transport System now in demand is the Mono rail System . The System is a Toy Car like System employed in malaysia , Singapore etc . but those cities are very small and population is Concentrated in limited place . But in india in the cities like Trivandrum , Kozhikode where the population is Split in different region i cant understand the viability . Take Example of Trivandrum city . The Proposed Monorail is From Technocity to Karamana (22 KM Stretch) . Yes there will customer during peak load time but what on Non Peak load timing and holidays . Around 75 % of the Technopark Employs are Staying near to Technopark will leave for Home on Friday and return only on Monday morning . The Economic of making the project break even is in doubt .In Majority of city the project are running behind schedule due to political & Land Acquistion related problem . More time in Completion more will be the loss since making the system running at the earliest is more viable than not at all running. However the Revolution of Metro and monorail will change the Concept of City travel in coming years . Diffcult of travelling in crowded Bus or Train will end with much faster , Modern & Air conditioned facility . Hope these Development will not later become a economic burden on People

This is a right way to go. Mass transit options should be encouraged indeed. This is key in the long term strategy of any nation moving towards a higher & responsible quality of life. The ultimate aim is to reduce private transport, its emmisions, fuel consumption and social facilities in regions of mass commutes. The capital was always holding us back and the respected stand the nation has created on a global arena has got is the trust of investors. The benefits will be shared not just to locals , but to India and to the investors. I really hope the designs are done with quake proof etc. The best part is that We are positioned now to go for the best options taking the experiences of the world. This is the best thing to happen for India.
