Air Asia India all Set To Fly


Private airline AirAsia India is now all set to take off. The Director General of Civil Aviation on Wednesday gave its license to the new airline to fly. The airline which got its first aircraft in March is a three-way joint venture between AirAsia, Tata Sons Ltd. and Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace Pvt. Ltd. The government had in April 2013 cleared AirAsia's proposal to invest Rs 80.98 crore in AirAsia India, marking the clearance of the project's first step before seeking a licence to fly. AirAsia India all set to take off as DGCA gives license to the new airline The airline is a three-way joint venture between AirAsia, Tata Sons Ltd. and Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace Pvt. Ltd. AirAsia would be represented by CEO Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Bin Meranun, who are among the largest shareholders in AirAsia Bhd, while Arun Bhatia would represent Telstra Tradeplace on the Board of the newly formed venture.
