Why Oscar Nomination for Slumdog Millionaire

I have watched the movie slumdog Millionarie and have not found anything special from the movie othe than a usual indian movie. The story is good and script of the movie is also good to certian extend. I dont think it have something that make it special to get a oscar award. I have failed to find something new in the story or anything special features in the movie. when compare this movie with LAGAN the movie had something about the indian history , story line was different from other movie story ... But the lagan failed to get an OScar... lets wait and watch whether Slumdog will get something... My strong beleive is Slumdog will get Min 5 oscar because shows the condition of India as country...especially mumabi city.. lets wait ..
