In David v/s Goliath : kejriwal defeated Sheila

In what could be termed as the major outcome of the 2013 Assembly polls, Aam Aadmi Party founder today defeated three-time Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit by a margin of 25,864 votes. After result trends showed a clear end to the Congress rule, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit conceded defeat and submitted her resignation to Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung. "I would like to thank everyone for their support. We will analyse what went wrong later," a sombre-looking Dikshit said. A beaming Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal Sunday termed his party's phenomenal success in the Delhi polls as "peoples' victory". Waving to throngs of cheering and dancing supporters at the party office on Hanuman Road in Connaught Place here, Kejriwal, who briefly appeared at a first-floor window in the midst of his party's confabulation, said: "Yeh logon ki jeet hai (It is the peoples' victory." As his supporters waved the broom, the party symbol, Kejriwal said he had always been confident of his party's victory. AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, standing next to Kejriwal, shouted into the mike "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Aam aadmi hain, hum aam aadmi hain (we are the common people)".
